HTC Touch HD Features at a Glance

HTC Touch HD Smartphone Picture
HTC Touch HD mobile phone is an assuming handset with minimal buttons on its sides; on top is the 3.5mm headphone socket that works well with all types of 3.5mm jack. To the left is the power on/off button, a green LED that flashes whenever the cell phone misses a call, and a long rocker button for volume up/down functionality. HTC Touch HD’s USB charging port comes at the bottom, so is the microphone opening. At the lowest point on the right hand is the access to stylus.
Below the 3.8″ 800 x 480 touch screen are four symbols, the call, home, back, and end. Interestingly, HTC Touch HD cell phone’s touch buttons are not illuminated and hence is difficult to spot at night. A video call camera occupies the front side, while a 5 mp auto focus camera adorns the back. SIM card/MicroSD slots and battery compartment are hidden inside the back cover.

The Touch Flo UI in HTC Touch HD is the same one that is found in HTC Touch Diamond, save some of the tabs that is enhanced for more convenience and few rearrangements here and there. Each tab comes with its context keys. It is so user friendly that most of the times, the user will forget to use the Windows interface other than for accessing internet or alarm function. Cutting straight to the most used tab, the email tab, it stacks the emails in a user friendly manner, while an exclusive shortcut activates the email editor. The context keys give one click access to Windows Mobile email box, as well as to command buttons such as send/receive and email account management. The pre-installed Opera 9.5 web browser makes browsing easier, as well as a pleasure. The handset also comes loaded with a full fledged organizer, office application, and a handy search feature that is capable of wading its way through the whole file system in the phone.
Other HTC Touch HD features include GPS, stock tab, weather, photos and video tab, music tab, and the settings tab that saves one from getting lost in the maze of typical WinMo settings page. Finally, the customizable application launcher lets the user set shortcuts to the most used programs in the gadget. Above all, one could set the order in which the tabs be displayed.
In terms of connectivity, the HTC Touch HD offers HSDPA 7.2Mpbs, Wi-Fi, and stereo Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR. The gadget also offers USB 2.0 support. Tests show positive results for PC to HD and vice versa data transfers.
Multimedia
Unlike typical Windows Mobile phones, the HTC Touch HD offers better audio quality. The gadget has also onboard an FM radio, and a topnotch video player that provides excellent video playback performances across various video files supported by Windows.
Buy HTC Touch HD Smartphone
Overall, the HTC Touch HD smart phone offers one of the best WinMo experiences that could go a long way in changing people’s perception of Windows Mobile applications in general. The battery life is better than an iPhone for similar usage, even though the same can’t be said about the form factor. As a business phone, its office applications are far superior for sure. But the tables turn if one’s priority switches to multimedia/web. Perhaps the arrival of Windows Mobile 7 may level out the playing field in the near future, especially in the media front.
