An entire hall of the Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery is exclusively dedicated to the beautiful paintings of renowned Raja Ravi Varma, the famous Kerala prince-painter from the princely state of Travancore. Raja Ravi Varma’s paintings mostly depict Indian traditions and incidents from the Hindu epics; some of the noted ones include ‘Sakuntala’, ‘Krishna and Balram’, ‘Harishchandra’.
The art gallery at Mysore also features a section for Western Collections exhibiting works by master like the Russian Svetoslav Roerich, A. Caddy, Jiladin Ville of Germant, P.P. Ruben, Titan, Nikolav Roerich of Russia, and miniature paintings by Gunoy.
The Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery in Mysore also showcases a wide collection of musical instruments which were used by Maharajas, especially Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. Sculptures and photographs, ornamental furniture, and glass and Chinaware are also on display.
